In every community today, there are children waiting in shelters and respite care for foster parents. There are teenagers struggling to come to grips with the abuse and neglect they’ve suffered. There are families broken and in despair.
At FamiliesFirst, hope exists.
For over three decades, FamiliesFirst has been dedicated to the philosophy that every child deserves a safe and loving family. As one of California’s largest, most respected mental health service providers, FamiliesFirst offers a wide range of services to families and to children who are severely emotionally disturbed, abused, neglected, developmentally disabled and behaviorally challenged.
Founded in 1974 as a group home for 3 emotionally disturbed boys, the agency now supports more than 3,000 children and their families annually throughout Northern and Central California. Through foster, adoptive, community based and residential treatment services, a multidisciplinary approach is taken to best meet the needs of each individual.
FamiliesFirst’s team of over 580 associates is committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate, innovative and above all, effective care. We embrace foster and biological families as colleagues and acknowledge them as the agency's most valuable resource. Collaboration, Adaptation, Respect and Excellence - FamiliesFirst's core values - guide all our work within the home and community.
For thousands of children and families in California, FamiliesFirst has been the last chance to find a safe environment and to have a healthy and happy home.
