OVERVIEW

The Foster and Adoption Services program is designed to provide services to a wide range of children, including those who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, molested, and who would otherwise require institutional care.  Children of all ages are served through specially matched placements that are tailored to meet individual needs. The goal of our Foster and Adoption Services program is a permanent home for each child. FamiliesFirst works collaboratively with placing agencies towards a permanent plan in the least restrictive setting.  The first preference is for every child to live with his/her biological family. In situations where this is not possible, our goal is to help establish the most permanent family environment possible. Thus, adoption is considered the best choice for a child, followed by legal guardianship.  When none of these can be achieved, long term foster care becomes the child’s permanent plan.

FamiliesFirst is highly selective in choosing foster parents, and in turn, is supportive and responsive to their needs.  Foster parents participate in on-going training, monthly support groups and special events. FamiliesFirst offers 4 distinct foster care programs and an adoptions program. These programs include:

1) Standard Foster Care
2) Adoption
3) Tansitional Housing Program
4) Emancipation Program.
