ROSE MANNING YOUTH SHELTER
FamiliesFirst provides sub-acute, short-term crisis residential treatment services for youth age 6-17 at the Rose Manning Youth Shelter in Contra Costa County. The shelter is designed to deal with the emotional, behavioral, and educational problems of seriously disturbed youth who have been removed from their families. The maximum length of stay is 90 days. The program is comprised of five components: therapeutic residence, crisis stabilization, assessment, medical evaluation and treatment, and family treatment. The goal of the program is to stabilize children so that they can reunify with their families or be placed in the least restrictive out-of-home placement possible. The program was jointly pioneered by FamiliesFirst and Contra Costa County and now serves as a model for other counties in the state.
